DESIGN FOR SUSTAINABILITY AND WELL-BEING

Spheres of Connnectivity – Mind/Body/Soul

How do we create places that meet our functional needs, support our physical and emotional well-being, sustain the environment, and promote the quality of our lives?

How do we create architecture and a built environment that inspires us and enriches our souls?

How do we create architecture that promotes positive social interaction and fosters a sense of community?

How do we create sustainability and design for our well-being?

We start with the understanding that architecture is about celebrating the human experience
…and a vision that sustainable design is a process of balancing the vision of the client, with the necessity of functionality, and the capabilities of the site and environment in ways that enable us to create an experience that continually supports and fosters our physical and emotional well-being and sustains the human spirit.

As human beings, we have certain needs and desires. On the most basic level, we have the need for food, shelter, water, and clean air.
As social creatures, we have the need to congregate and interact with others;
At other times, we feel the need for privacy and to have the space to be alone;
We all have the need to feel safe, protected, and nurtured;
And we need to feel connected to our environment and world around us in meaningful ways.

When we design opportunities for these needs to be met in the built environment, that is when we support our well-being and create sustainable design.

It is through the built environment and the experiences we create in our homes, in our workplace and in our communities that allow these needs to be met in ways that support our physical and emotional well-being and touch our souls. Through our years of experience, we have come to identify tangible design tools that we believe contribute to our experience in a place in ways that meet our inherent needs. We incorporate these elements into our design work to create functional, yet soulful and graceful spaces that connect us to the world around us in meaningful ways that celebrate the human experience.

This is our vision of sustainable design - to explore the spheres of connectivity between mind, body, and spirit and the relationship between the physical built environment, our emotional response to design, and the spirit of place to create sustainable design solutions for our clients that enhance their daily experience, support the environment, and celebrate the human spirit.
